Coping with pet loss involves acknowledging the grief, allowing yourself to feel the emotions, seeking support, and remembering your pet through various means.

Your Grief is Your Journey
Grief Does Not Have a Timeline.
Remembrance Activities

Create a Shrine using items that remind you of your dear one.
Send a picture of your Shrine.

Send a picture and Tribute message of any length.

Place a marker in your garden.

Write a letter to your pet. Just start writing. What do you remember about his/her features, their quirky ways, the way they made you feel. What would you say to them if you could? Take your time. Rewrite it if you'd like. Just write.

Write a letter from your pet's point of view. What would they want you to know? What did they enjoy during their time with you?

Create a Memory Jar using a wide-mouthed jar with a lid. Decorate the jar if you wish. Write memories of your pet on strips of paper. Take a strip out, read and reflect, and place it in the basket to fill the jar and again.

Scrapbook with or without jpurnaling pages.

Plant a tree in your yard or donate one to a park in the name of your pet.

Volunteer at a shelter or an animal organization in honor of your pet.

Donate to pet organizations.

Donate a bench to your dog's favorite park with a plaque.
